Pondering upon the Qurān
A Transmission and Commentary
By Shaykh AbdurRazāq ibn Shaykh AbdulMushin Al-Badr حفظهما الله
He (Uthmaan ibn ‘Afān) رضي الله عنه used to contemplate abundantly upon the Qurān.
And when he was being killed the Qurān was open between his hands while he was reading it.
And the first drop of blood that fell from his hand was on the Statement of Allāh تعالى:
فَسَيَكۡفِيكَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ²
So Allāh will suffice you against them. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.³
And when they (the killers of Uthmaan) enveloped him, his wife said, “If you kill him or you leave him he used to liven his night with prayer and in one rakat he would amass in it the Qurān”.
How it saddens the adviser, the situation of many of the people in these times; their deprivation from contemplating upon the Qurān, due to their addiction of looking at the phone. And is one of them waiting to die while most of his account is his looking at the phone, or to die while looking at it.
